According to information reaching the Grenada Informer, thousands of dollars have been unaccounted for and the newly elected Executive is having difficulties functioning amidst mounting pressures from members and affiliated clubs to act with speed and bring some form of closure on the matter.
Inside sources told the Informer that the newly elected Executive, headed by former national player Ashley Ram Folkes, is facing a vote of no confidence on the weekend that could bring that body to its knees after only three months in office.
Persons behind the move are accusing the Folkes fraction of failing to nominate organs as directed by the statutes for proper management of the GFA. He refuses to convene a General Meeting as requested by the councils in order to discuss financial and other matters; he undertook serious financial matters without the sanctioning of the general council, including creating fear among coaches and management of the national football team.
In addition to the No confidence motion expected this Saturday, members of the body are peeved over the President’s handling of the issues surrounding the General Secretary and have decided to go one step further with a view to bringing closure to what is now dubbed a fiasco.
CONCAF and FIFA have been appraised of the situation facing Grenada Football and have since consented to send a special team, including legal advisors, to Grenada next Wednesday with the hope of bringing to an end the problem facing Grenada FA.
One source told the Informer that pending the outcome of next Wednesday’s meeting, there could well be a new body in charge of the football in Grenada.
One member is of the view that the battle between Folkes and the General Secretary is a personal one that is taking the sport to the gutter.
The individual said accusations have been leveled left right and centre and persons making those accusations and themselves are guilty of similar wrong doing and therein lies the problem.
